Reef Safe with Caution covers species that can work in reef tanks, but have a known risk of nipping corals, clams or invertebrates depending on the individual. These fish are often fine in many setups, but are best suited to confident reef keepers who understand the trade-off between personality and potential misbehaviour. Careful stocking, good feeding and keeping a close eye on new additions are important, and certain sensitive corals or inverts may not be suitable tank mates. Always read the individual species notes and plan your livestock around the level of “risk” you’re happy to accept in your reef.
