The Orange Percula Clownfish (Amphiprion percula), often referred to as the True Percula, is a popular, small saltwater fish known for its bright orange body, three white bands, and thick black margins. They are easy to care for, making them ideal for beginners, and are commonly captive-bred.

Tank Size: Minimum 20–30 gallons (approx. 75–115 liters) for a pair.
Temperament: Semi-aggressive; they can be territorial, especially towards other clownfish.
Diet: Omnivore; they readily accept frozen, flaked, and pelleted foods.
Maximum Size: Up to 3–4 inches (8–10 cm).
Reef Safe: Yes.
Water Parameters: 72–78°F, pH 8.1–8.4, Salinity 1.020–1.025. 

Behavior and Habitat:
Symbiosis: They are famous for their symbiotic relationship with sea anemones, which protect them. Common host anemones include Heteractis magnifica and Stichodactyla gigantea.

Social Structure: They live in groups with a strict hierarchy: a large dominant female, a smaller male, and immature juveniles.
Coloration: While vibrant orange, they may develop deeper black coloration as they mature. 

Distinction from Ocellaris:
Percula clownfish are frequently confused with Amphiprion ocellaris (False Percula), but the true Percula has thicker black outlines on its white bands.
