Many koi keepers remark that Kohaku is both where the journey begins and where it ultimately returns, thanks to the elegance of its red-on-white colouration running from head through the body.
When the hi (red) appears only on the head and the body remains white, that Kohaku is entered in shows under the Tancho classification.
