Basslets are small, colourful reef fish with bold personalities that often behave more like little predators than their size suggests. Most are considered reef-safe with corals but can be territorial, especially towards their own kind or similar-shaped species, so they’re usually best kept singly or as a known-compatible group (such as certain Gramma species). They do well in mixed reef or community setups from around 80–100 litres upwards, provided there are plenty of caves and overhangs to claim as territory. Basslets thrive with peaceful to moderately assertive tank mates that won’t harass them, stable water quality, and a varied meaty diet offered in small, frequent feeds.
