Trachyphyllia & Scolymia are fleshy, single-polyp LPS showpieces that add serious impact to the sandbed with their bold colours and inflated, cushion-like tissue. They generally prefer low to moderate light and gentle, indirect flow so they can fully expand without being blasted or damaged. Both have a strong sting and can extend feeding/sweeper tentacles, so they need a sensible gap from neighbouring corals. In a mature, stable reef with careful placement on sand or smooth rock and occasional target feeding of small meaty foods, Trachys and Scolys stay plump, colourful and make stunning focal points.
