Symphyllia & Lobophyllia are fleshy, “chunky” brain LPS corals that form bold, multi-lobed colonies with deep valleys and rich, contrasting colours. They generally prefer low to moderate light and gentle to moderate, indirect flow so their tissue can expand without being battered. These corals can be fairly aggressive, with strong stings and short sweeper tentacles, so they should be given a sensible gap from more delicate neighbours. In a mature, stable reef with careful placement on rock or sand and occasional target feeding of small meaty foods, Symphyllia & Lobo corals are hardy, rewarding and make superb statement pieces.
