LPS (Large Polyp Stony) corals are fleshy, colourful corals with distinct, often oversized polyps, making them perfect for bold, eye-catching reef displays. Generally less demanding than SPS, they prefer low to moderate light and gentle to moderate flow, with stable alkalinity, calcium and magnesium to support their skeletons. Many LPS will happily accept small meaty foods, rewarding regular feeding with faster growth and richer colour. From torches, hammers and gonis to brains, chalices and trachys, LPS corals offer loads of movement and impact while still being manageable for most reef keepers with a mature, stable system.
