Acan corals (often sold as Micromussa/Acan lords) are fleshy, brightly coloured LPS that form tight colonies of individual “heads”, making them perfect for compact, high-impact frags and small colonies. They generally prefer low to moderate light and gentle to moderate flow, which helps their polyps stay puffed up and show off their colour. Acans are semi-aggressive and can extend short sweeper tentacles, so they should be given a little space from more delicate neighbours. In a stable reef with sensible placement and occasional target feeding of small meaty foods, they’re fast to settle, rewarding and suitable for both newer and experienced reef keepers.
