Common Name:                                                                                                      Tiger Endler Guppy, Tiger Endler, Tiger Endler's Livebearer, Tiger Guppy

Scientific Name (Latin):                                                                                                Poecilia reticulata

Strain / Form:                                                                                                                  Tiger Endler captive-bred ornamental variety, commonly associated with Poecilia wingei × Poecilia reticulata hybrid lines.

Maximum Size:                                                                                                 Approximately 3–4 cm, with females potentially growing larger depending on the breeding line.

Water Type:                                                                                                                    Freshwater

Origin / Natural Habitat:                                                                                              The Tiger Endler Guppy is a selectively bred aquarium variety descended from guppy and Endler livebearer lines originating from northern South America.

Wild guppies and Endlers inhabit freshwater streams, pools, vegetated margins and other sheltered freshwater environments.

In the aquarium, Tiger Endlers thrive in mature planted tanks with open swimming areas, floating plants and gentle to moderate water movement.

Water Parameters: Temperature: 22–28°C pH Range: 7.0–8.2 Hardness: Moderately hard to hard preferred Ammonia/Nitrite: 0 ppm Nitrate: Kept low and stable Flow: Gentle to moderate preferred

Temperament:                                                                                                              Peaceful / Active

Tiger Endler Guppies are peaceful, lively fish that are suitable for a wide range of community aquariums.

Males are particularly active and frequently display their bright colours while swimming around other Endlers and guppies.

When keeping males and females together, maintaining more females than males helps reduce constant chasing.

Diet:                                                                                                                        Omnivore / Livebearer Community Diet

Tiger Endler Guppies readily accept a varied diet of small aquarium foods.

Offer high-quality tropical flakes, micro pellets, livebearer foods and spirulina-based flakes as their staple diet.

Supplement with frozen or live foods such as daphnia, baby brineshrimp, cyclops, mosquito larvae and small bloodworm.

Vegetable-based foods and natural algae grazing help support digestion, colour and overall health.

Minimum Tank Size:                                                                                        Approximately 45–60 litres for a small group

Larger aquariums are recommended for breeding colonies or mixed community setups.

Provide plenty of planting alongside open swimming space to encourage natural activity.

Behaviour & Activity:                                                                                                  The Tiger Endler Guppy is a highly active fish that spends most of its time swimming in the middle and upper areas of the aquarium.

Males frequently display to females and one another, showing their distinctive tiger markings and colourful fins.

This species is a livebearer, meaning females give birth to fully formed, free-swimming fry rather than laying eggs.

In well-planted aquariums, fry may survive among moss, floating plants and dense vegetation.

Community Suitability:                                                                                        Peaceful Community Fish

Tiger Endler Guppies are excellent additions to peaceful tropical community aquariums.

Suitable tankmates include platies, other guppies, peaceful small rasboras, small corydoras, otocinclus, bristlenose plecos and other calm fish that tolerate moderately hard, alkaline water.

They can also be housed with peaceful freshwater shrimp, although very small shrimp may be eaten.

Avoid aggressive fish, fin-nippers, large predators and species that require very soft, acidic water.

Special Requirements or Care Notes:                                                                        Tiger Endler Guppies should be kept in a mature aquarium with stable water quality and good filtration.

They prefer mineral-rich, moderately hard to hard water and should not be maintained long term in very soft acidic conditions.

A group of at least 5–6 fish is recommended, although male-only groups can be kept successfully to prevent uncontrolled breeding.

When keeping mixed sexes, aim for one male to two or three females to reduce breeding pressure.

Provide dense plants, floating cover and sheltered areas for resting and protecting fry.

Tiger Endlers breed readily and may crossbreed with other guppy or Endler varieties. If maintaining a specific Tiger Endler colour line, avoid mixing them with other strains.

Regular water changes, varied feeding and stable water conditions will help maintain their colour and health.
