Seachem Flourite Black Sand

Flourite Black Sand is a specially fractured, stable porous clay substrate designed for the natural planted aquarium. Its rich black color enhances the visual depth and contrast of planted tanks, making it an ideal choice for aquascaping, while remaining versatile enough for use in virtually any freshwater aquarium setup.

Engineered to function as a complete substrate system, Flourite Black Sand is most effective when used alone as an integral substrate bed. However, it can also be mixed with other aquarium gravels if desired. Unlike traditional planted tank additives, gravel modifiers such as laterite are not required. This substrate is not chemically coated or treated and will not alter water pH, ensuring a stable and safe environment for fish and aquatic plants.

Although pre-washed for convenience, a light rinse before use can help remove any residual dust. To further minimize cloudiness, fill the aquarium slowly and disperse water gently to avoid disturbing the substrate bed. Slight initial cloudiness is normal and typically clears within 2–12 hours. For even faster clarification, use Clarity alongside mechanical filtration such as filter floss.
