The Neon Blue Guppy is a bright and eye-catching freshwater livebearer prized for its vivid metallic blue colouration, compact body and flowing fins. Hardy, active and easy to care for, it is an excellent choice for peaceful community aquariums and suits both newer and experienced fishkeepers. Males typically display the strongest colouration, while females are usually larger-bodied and more subdued in appearance.

The Neon Blue Guppy is a selectively bred ornamental strain of Poecilia reticulata.

Wild guppies originate from freshwater habitats in northern South America and nearby Caribbean regions, where they occur in streams, pools, ditches and other slow-moving waters with abundant vegetation.

Neon Blue Guppies are social and generally peaceful fish that mix well with other calm community species.

Males may regularly display towards females and one another, but serious aggression is uncommon when adequate space and suitable group structure are provided.

Offer a varied diet including high-quality tropical flakes, small pellets, frozen or live daphnia, brine shrimp and bloodworm.

Spirulina and other vegetable-based foods can also be included regularly to provide additional dietary variety.

Several small feeds are preferable to one large meal.

Guppies are social and can be kept in groups, although careful attention should be given to the male-to-female ratio where mixed sexes are maintained.

Suitable tankmates include other guppies, peaceful livebearers, Corydoras, small rasboras and other calm species that tolerate similar water conditions.

Avoid aggressive or persistent fin-nipping fish, particularly where long-finned male guppies are present.

Special Requirements or Care Notes:
Neon Blue Guppies prefer moderately hard, mineral-rich water and may struggle in consistently very soft or acidic conditions.

Stable water chemistry, good filtration and regular partial water changes are important for maintaining health and colour.

Guppies are livebearers and can reproduce readily in suitable conditions. Females may produce repeated broods, so population growth should be considered when keeping mixed-sex groups.

Dense planting and floating vegetation can provide shelter for adults and young fish.

Because this is a selectively bred colour strain, the intensity and distribution of blue colouration may vary naturally between individual fish.
