Description
The Latezonatus Clownfish (Wide Band Clownfish) needs an established saltwater tank (50+ gallons for a pair), stable params (74-80°F, 1.020-1.025 SG, pH 8.0-8.4), good filtration, live rock, and preferably a host anemone (like Carpet or Malu) for security, though they're reef-safe; feed meaty foods, pellets, algae, and flakes; they can be aggressive to their own kind as they mature, so keep singly or as a pair, and provide hiding spots for their semi-aggressive nature.
Tank & Water Parameters
Tank Size:
Minimum 20 gallons (75L) for a pair, but larger is better; 30+ gallons is often recommended.
Water Temp: 74-80°F (24-27°C).
Salinity (SG): 1.020 - 1.025.
pH: 8.0 - 8.4.
Filtration: Robust system with live rock for biological filtration and hiding.
Water Flow: Gentle to moderate.
Diet
Omnivore:
Accepts quality flake, pellet, frozen (mysis, brine shrimp), and algae-based foods.
Feeding:
Once or twice daily; ensure varied diet.
Social & Behavior
Temperament: Can become aggressive to other clownfish as they mature; often territorial around their host.
Compatibility: Generally reef-safe with corals and invertebrates.
Hosting: Will host anemones (Carpet, Malu), providing them with food/cleaning, but can live without one.
Grouping: Best kept singly or as a bonded pair; avoid adding multiple young ones unless you know how to manage potential aggression.
Key Care Tips
Establishment: Add to a mature, well-cycled tank.
Water Quality: Test regularly (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, salinity); perform weekly water changes.
Hiding: Provide plenty of rockwork for security and hiding.
