HerpXotics Natural Leaf Litter is a pack of shredded dried leaves that have been sustainably harvested; perfect for recreating a natural forest floor in your terrarium. By combining them with other natural décor options, you can create a replica of nature in your home, these leaves are completely safe for reptiles and toxin-free.
Great for creating humid microclimates within the enclosure, trapping humidity near the substrate encouraging custodians like isopods to thrive. In high humidity, or if soaked in water for an extended period of time leaves may degrade, though this will provide food for custodians in a bioactive enclosure as well. They can also be made wet and mulched down for millipede diet.
Dried leaves can be used as a substrate top layer to create a natural floor covering similar to that found in forests. Leaf litter acts as a layer for animals to burrow in, encouraging natural behaviours. The majority of reptiles and amphibians forage on the forest floor for food and water, adding leaf litter allows them to replicate natural behaviours.
