Green & Tangerine het Tremper Albino & Eclipse Male Leopard Gecko

  1. Housing
    - Enclosure: Start with a 20-gallon long terrarium for one leopard gecko, which offers sufficient space for exercise and exploration.
    - Substrate: Opt for a non-particulate substrate such as reptile carpet, paper towels, or tiles to prevent impaction, a common concern with loose substrates.
    - Hides: Provide at least three hides within the enclosure— a warm hide, a cool hide, and a moist hide to assist with shedding. The moist hide is especially important for morphs prone to shedding issues.

    2. Lighting and Temperature
    - Temperature: Establish a thermal gradient with a warm side at 88-90°F (31-32°C) and a cool side around 75-80°F (24-27°C). Use under-tank heaters or basking lights as needed. Avoid heat rocks due to burn risk.
    - Lighting: Although leopard geckos are nocturnal and do not require intense UVB lighting, a low-intensity UVB light can benefit their overall health. Be mindful of potential light sensitivity, particularly because of the Eclipse genetics.

    3. Humidity and Water
    - Humidity: Maintain enclosure humidity levels around 30-40%. Use a hygrometer to monitor. The moist hide is crucial for maintaining proper humidity for shedding.
    - Water: Always provide a shallow dish of fresh water. Change it daily to ensure cleanliness.

    4. Diet and Nutrition
    - Feeding: Feed a diet consisting of live insects like crickets, mealworms, and waxworms. Ensure the insects are gut-loaded (fed nutritious food) before offering them to your gecko.
    - Supplements: Dust the insects with calcium powder 2-3 times a week and with a reptile-specific multivitamin once a week to prevent metabolic bone disease and other nutritional deficiencies.

    5. Handling and Socialisation
    - Acclimatisation: Allow your leopard gecko time to adjust to its new home before attempting to handle it, typically a few weeks.
    - Handling: Gradually introduce handling sessions, ensuring they are short and gentle to build trust without causing stress.

    6. Health and Maintenance
    - Observation: Regularly check your gecko for signs of good health, such as active behaviour, clear eyes, and consistent eating patterns. Be vigilant about shedding, ensuring it is complete to avoid issues.

    Special Considerations for Morphs
    - Genetics: The combination of Green, Tangerine, het Tremper Albino, and Eclipse morphs offers stunning visual diversity but may come with specific care nuances, such as sensitivity to light due to the Eclipse trait and potential vision issues.
    - Colour and Light Sensitivity: The unique coloration requires vigilant observation for any skin or eye issues. The Eclipse trait may mean your gecko has light sensitivity; ensure the habitat has areas of dim light or shade.
