Leptastrea & Leptoseris are hardy, encrusting and plating stony corals that add thin, colourful “skins” over rockwork and ledges, perfect for awkward faces and shaded areas. They generally prefer low to moderate light and gentle to moderate flow, making them far more forgiving than high-demand stick SPS. Stable alkalinity, calcium and magnesium are still important, but they’ll tolerate slightly higher nutrients and minor parameter swings. With sensible placement and good basic reef conditions, Leptastrea & Leptoseris will gradually encrust and plate out, adding texture, depth and colour without taking up much physical space.
