Favias & Favites are classic “brain” LPS corals, forming chunky, encrusting to dome-shaped colonies with bold colours and distinct, eye-like mouths. They generally prefer low to moderate light and gentle to moderate flow, making them well suited to a wide range of reef setups. These corals can be moderately aggressive, extending short sweeper tentacles, so a bit of space from more delicate neighbours is recommended. In a mature, stable system with sensible placement and occasional small meaty feeds, Favias & Favites are hardy, rewarding and offer loads of texture and colour for relatively little fuss.
