Cynarina & Acanthophyllia are large, fleshy “meat” LPS corals that make serious statement pieces, with big inflated bodies and rich, often contrasting colours. They generally prefer low to moderate light and gentle, indirect flow so their tissue can fully expand without being battered. Best placed on the sandbed or smooth, low rockwork, they have a strong sting and should be given a good gap from neighbouring corals. In a mature, stable reef with sensible placement and occasional target feeding of small meaty foods, Cynarina & Acanthophyllia stay plump, colourful and grow into impressive centrepieces.
