Description

Rhodactis mushrooms are hardy, beginner-friendly corals requiring low-to-moderate lighting (50–150 PAR) and low water flow to prevent tissue damage or detachment. Place them on the bottom or on rockwork, leaving space for expansion. They are photosynthetic but benefit from feeding (mysis, brine shrimp, or Reef Roids) 1–2 times weekly for faster growth.

Key Care Requirements:

Lighting: Low to moderate.

Flow: Low to moderate. Strong flow can make them retract, shrink, or detach.

Water Quality: Stable parameters are essential. They prefer slightly higher nutrient levels.

Placement: Place on substrate or rockwork, ideally in a spot that allows them to securely attach.

Feeding and Maintenance

While Rhodactis are photosynthetic, they are actually passive predators that benefit from feeding.

Feeding: Spot-feed with small meaty foods (brine/mysis shrimp) or specialized coral foods, especially for faster growth and better coloration.

Aggression: They have a moderate sting, so provide some space between them and other, more sensitive corals.
