Acropora are fast-growing SPS corals prized for their branching structures and vivid colours, but they’re among the most demanding corals to keep. They require strong, stable lighting (typically higher PAR), high, turbulent flow and very consistent water quality with low but not stripped-out nutrients. Good alkalinity, calcium and magnesium stability is essential, ideally maintained via dosing or a calcium reactor. Acropora are best kept in mature, well-established systems and make the most sense for experienced reef keepers looking to build structured, SPS-dominant aquascapes.
