Description
Sungaya inexpectata, or the sunny stick insect, is a sexually dimorphic, herbivorous insect native to the Philippines. Females are typically larger and more vibrantly coloured with white bands, while males are smaller and more evenly coloured, aiding their camouflage.
These docile, nocturnal creatures are known for their ability to play dead and reproduce parthenogenetically. They feed on bramble, hawthorn, and rose leaves, and their eggs are small, seed-like structures that hatch in a few months
