Enclosure
A minimum enclosure size of 30 gallons, or dimensions of 18 x 18 x 30 inches, is recommended for a single Chinese Cave Gecko, providing them with ample space to exercise and hide. For small groups, doubling this size can help prevent aggression and territorial behaviors. Adding extra height to the enclosure is beneficial to allow space for climbing.

Temperature and Humidity
Create a temperature gradient within the enclosure with a cool zone of 70–75°F and a warm basking area of 80–82°F during the day, with nighttime temperatures not falling below 68–70°F. Humidity levels should be maintained between 70%–80%, with careful monitoring to prevent drops below 60%. Use misting and a shallow water bowl to aid in maintaining humidity, and ensure the enclosure is well-ventilated to prevent fungal and bacterial growth.

Lighting
Though UV and UVB light is beneficial for providing vitamin D and aiding in digestion, it is not strictly necessary due to the gecko's nocturnal nature. However, maintaining a cycle of 10½ to 13½ hours of daylight, depending on the season, is crucial for regulating their internal clock. If additional lighting is used, ensure it doesn't overheat the enclosure or disrupt the gecko's natural day-night cycle.

Substrate and Decoration
Use substrates such as cypress mulch, sphagnum moss, peat moss, or coco fiber that retain moisture well, with at least 2 inches depth. Decorate the enclosure with climbing structures, hiding spaces, and live or nontoxic artificial plants that can hold water for the gecko to lick off. Avoid substrates that could be ingested, leading to impaction.

Diet
Feed them a diet of live, gut-loaded insects, including dubia roaches, butterworms, crickets, waxworms, and mealworms. Juveniles should be fed daily, while adults can be fed every other day. Dust the insects with calcium and vitamin D supplements to ensure proper nutrition.

Health and Handling
Monitor for signs of health issues, such as difficulty shedding, gastrointestinal problems, or skin conditions, often due to incorrect habitat conditions. Handle your gecko minimally to reduce stress, particularly during cleaning, and always in the evening or night when they are naturally awake.
