Description

Super High Red Stripe Gargoyle Gecko

1. Housing
- Enclosure Size: For a single Gargoyle Gecko, a 20-gallon vertical terrarium is recommended. They are arboreal, so vertical space is crucial.
- Substrate: Peat moss, coconut fiber, or a reptile carpet can be used. Avoid substrates that can cause impaction if ingested.
- Hiding Places: Provide plenty of hiding spots and climbing structures such as cork bark, branches, and plants (real or artificial).

2. Temperature & Humidity
- Temperature: The enclosure should have a temperature gradient of 72-78°F (22-25°C) during the day and can drop slightly at night. Avoid temperatures above 85°F (29°C) as they can be harmful.
- Humidity: Aim for 50-70% humidity. This can be maintained by misting the enclosure once or twice daily. A humidity gauge is essential to monitor levels.

3. Diet
- Gargoyle Geckos are omnivorous. Their diet can consist of:
- Commercial Gecko Food: There are high-quality powdered diets available that are mixed with water. These can be the primary diet.
- Live Insects: Offer crickets, dubia roaches, or mealworms 1-2 times per week as a supplement. Ensure insects are gut-loaded and appropriately sized.
- Fruits: Occasionally, you can offer pureed fruits like banana, mango, or peach as a treat.

4. General Care
- Handling: Limit handling until your gecko seems comfortable in its new home. Gentle and infrequent handling can help in taming your gecko.
- Water: Always provide a bowl of fresh water, even though they might not drink much from it. They primarily hydrate through misting.
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the enclosure, remove uneaten food, and replace the water daily. Full substrate changes should be done monthly.

5. Health Tips
- Shedding: Ensure high humidity levels to aid in shedding. If your gecko has difficulty shedding, a moist hide can be beneficial.
- Signs of Illness: Watch for signs such as lethargy, lack of appetite, abnormal feces, or visible injuries. Consult a veterinarian experienced with reptiles if any health issues arise.
