Leopard Wrasse - Black - Melanesia - Widespread West Pacific, ranging to sub-tropical zones as larval stage is carried by currents. Deep coastal slopes, soft-bottom habitats or reef margins onto sand and rubble, usually deeper than 15m. Young often in pairs or small loose groups, swimming close to the sea bed. When approached they move up and down in a unusual way that may worry a possible predator. Adults move about in small groups. Males display with metallic green colour that is turned on for the occasion. Length to 10cm.
